Dhuluny Aboriginal Art Markets and celebration CONCERT
December 11, 1824 was when martial law was repealed, so we picked the closest weekend so that we can celebrate our resilience as Aboriginal peoples who have SURVIVED!
We have over 20 Artists and Artisans who will be selling their exclusive wares at the Dhuluny Aboriginal Art Market and a number of fantastic performing Artists who will perform at the Dhuluny CONCERT from 5-10pm

Play: The Visitors
The Visitors is at once a riveting, deeply researched insight into one of the most impactful and painful days in Australia’s history, and a hugely entertaining study of how communities respond to change and the unknown. A Moogahlin Performing Arts and Sydney Theatre Company Production, written by Muruwari playwright Jane Harrison and directed by Quandamooka man Wesley Enoch. A seated supper and Q&A will take place following the show.

Acclaimed Wiradyuri author will be reading from her new book Gawimarra: Gathering - a stunning work of poetry, seamlessly weaving the personal and the political.

Dhuluny Aboriginal Art Market
This event will feature Aboriginal art and cultural artefacts from artists across NSW, with hundreds of artworks for sale, including ceramics, jewellery, weaving, carving, textiles, painting and prints. Also enjoy live music and traditional dances, and a pop up café by Australia’s leading Indigenous executive chef and native food producer Sharon Winsor of Indigiearth, Mudgee.
Film: The Australian Wars (Episode 3)
In this landmark documentary series, filmmaker Rachel Perkins journeys across the country to give voice to the story of the Australian (Frontier) Wars. In this episode we are taken to Northern Australia, where the frontier expansion was conducted by the newly formed colonial governments of Australia. This series swept the Australian film awards, winning top honours across all categories including the Logie for Best Documentary Series. With guest speaker Rachel Perkins, who will discuss the making of the film.

Dhuluny Conference
A two-day conference reflecting on the 1824 Proclamation of Martial Law during the Bathurst War or Wiradyuri War of Resistance 1822–24, and the ensuing Australian (Frontier) Wars. This project is a partnership with Charles Sturt University.
Film: The Dark Emu Story
A thought-provoking documentary telling the story of Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu, the publishing phenomenon that challenged Australia to rethink its history and ignited a raging debate. With guest speaker Bruce Pascoe, a Bunurong, Yuin and Tasmanian man and award- winning author.

Shadow Puppet Show: Dragon Hearts
This award-winning experimental shadow puppet show by Wiradyuri artist Brianna McCarthy tells ancient mythologies of dragons across cultures and time, exploring eco-feminism and what it means to slay a creature of power.

Gudyiwagagirri: Corroboree
To commemorate the date Marital Law was declared, you are invited to the traditional ceremonial ground at Reid and Sulman Park on the top of Wahluu for a major Corroboree performed by Aboriginal dance troupes from across NSW, led by local Wiradyuri dancers. Food (dhal) will be available, however please bring your own snacks/food and chairs, and dress warmly.

Film: The Drover’s Wife
A reimagining of Leah Purcell’s acclaimed play and Henry Lawson’s classic short story, The Drover’s Wife is a searing Australian Western with love, family, protection, survival, truth and racism at its heart.
With Leah Purcell AM, award-winning actor, writer, singer, director and producer, and a proud Kuwa – Gunggari – Wakka Wakka Murri woman, and guest speaker Wirribee Aunty Leanna Carr. Supported by Charles Sturt University.
